Senior Camp

                                Senior Camp

Day One

On Tuesday the 20th of August we went to camp. In the morning we went into the junior classes and waiting for the buses to arrive. When the bus has arrived we gave our bags to the bus driver and went to the parking area and lined up into our colour groups. After that we went to the toilet we went to the toilet so we don't need to go when we are in the bus.

so we don't need to go when we are in the bus. After a few minutes we went into the bus and sat down, the parents waved goodbye to the students and the students waved goodbye to the parents. Some people cried because they missed there parents and if they have one there brother or sisters, then the bus started to move we rested for little bit because we had to wake up at 7 and arrive at 7:30. When we arrived at the Hamilton gardens we went to the main area where the water fountain is, we spent a few minutes resting and having our morning tea.

When our morning tea was over had to do a photo hunt because the bus driver needed to go to the closest petrol station to get fuel. We had a few pieces of paper with photos on it we had to find the photo and see which garden it is there were like 20 photos. An hour later we had to come back some people finished it and some didn't. When we were back to the main area Miss daily grabbed her drone out and took a few photos.

Then we went back to the bus and went to Otorohanga to see the Ed Hillary walkway. There were posters of facts about New Zealand there and we had four sheets of paper and there were questions about New Zealand that we had to answer. It was a bit hard because there is heaps of people in one spot so we had to wait, 2 we had to read everything and find the answer. Thirty-minutes later we had to stop and eat our lunch for ten- minutes.

After our lunch we went back into the bus to go to the Jim barker memorial playground. The playground was very big, there was 2 small trampolines, a big and small slide, there a skate park there, there is a monkey bar, a flying fox,a Tyre parkour thing, and another thing. Miss daily also took a photo with the drone. The next stop was Taumaranui school, we spent around thirty- minutes playing in the two big playgrounds and playing basketball, netball, and cricket in the massive court.

They had some of the same things that we had in our playground like the chain climbing thing, rock climbing, fireman's pole, zip line, and other, But the things that are the same as ours are much longer and they had multiple of them. After that we went back into the bus it was 4:45, and this time we didn't have anymore stops we were having about a 2 hour ride to the Crossing Backpackers where we were staying. Everyone was just sleeping looking at the cows and animals, playing games, and taking photos. In the middle of the trip nearly everyone was starting to get a bit tired, and cold because it was getting darker and the temperature was dropping because we were a bit closer to mt Ruapehu.

We weren't close to Ruapehu it is like an hour away but we are closer than just now, it was so cold that the windows were foggy and the temperature was like 14 degrees. When we saw the place everyone was shouting we finally reached to the crossing and at the end someone didn't feel well and I was right in front of him so I quickly went behind him and a few seconds later he vomited. So after that a teacher had to give him a bucket us a big cloth and cover it so everyone can walk past it and also some wet wipes to wipe his hand and stuff. When all of that was sorted we went out of the bus and looked for our, Nearly everyone had the main building but a few other people including me went into a small building we looked for our rooms, me and my buddies rooms was all the way at the back room 21.

After that the bus driver put the bags out and the teachers took it and put it in the side of the hallway. We came to see if it's our bags so we could take it back and sort things out, some people took a long time because there bags were deeper inside. When we all finally got our bags we put it in our room and went to the dining room to get ready for dinner, but first they introduced themselves and told us what to do and not do, then we had dinner, today we had salad. There was potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes ,onions and other, and also the stuff are optional so if we don't like that or allergic you can just say no thank you.

Five minutes after dinner we had desert we had a rectangle shaped ice cream, and the flavour is Oreo, there is little bits of Oreo. After desert we went back to our rooms and we had to two by two go and take a shower and after that we had to brush our teeth. When everyone one was done we had free time we could stay in our room or go to the game room and play ping pong or some board games, or relax. You could also go into the secret cabinet and watch the movie that is played. Another place you can go to to play board games is the dining room.

An hour later we were all supposed to go back and spend five minutes changing into our pajamas and getting ready for bedtime. Two minutes later the adults came in and told us to prepare our ski gear for tomorrow. After we prepared our ski gear it was bedtime we went on the beds and in to our sleeping bags, I slept at the right side at the bottom and my friends slept above another beside and another one at the left side on the top. The parent staying next to our room offed the light and closed the door, then we all went to bed.

                                                                  Day Two
we woke up at six and everyone was very tired. We woke up at six because we had to take around thirty minutes to go to a place where there was shuttle to send us to the snow. We had to use a shuttle because normal buses can't go up big hills and mountains. When we woke up we got changed and brushed our teeth, after that we had to go to the dining room for breakfast.

The breakfast was you can either have toast or cereal, for cereal you could either choose peaches or either pears or both, and for the cereal you could choose rice bubbles, corn flakes, and granola, and you could also put some weetbix in your cereal, after we chose our cereal the parents poured milk in our bowl and we got our cutlery and sat down. When we finished we stacked our bowls at the front and put our cutlery in a little bucket of water and went back to our rooms and put our ski gear on and went into the bus. We also brang some money to buy hot chips at the happy valley cafe. An hour later we arrived, some people were very excited because they have never touched snow before or because they get too ski, but at the start we didn't have free time first, we went to a place where you could rent ski gear we lined up to get a helmet, check the size of our feet to see which ski boot fits, and get our skis.

We also wrote down the number of our boots and ski on a card so we would know which ski we had and boot we had and the teachers also gave us ski passes which allows us to go through the gates and to the ski fields. After that we went outside and waited for a teacher to come. When the teacher's came she told us to go through to gate and wait for the others, While waiting everyone was just siting down having snowball fight or making a small snowman. Awhile later everyone had finished we lined up into our colour group and waited.

When the ski and snowboard teachers arrived each colour group went with one teachers and went down the hill to a more flatter and open surface. when it started we learnt how to ski and stop with one foot, and then when we are better we did it with two feet some groups were still learning how to stop and some of them already learnt how to go on chairlifts. after 1 hours of ski lessons we had lunch we sat outside the cafe. Before we had hot chips we had to eat the sandwiches the crossing provided on the first day one of the sandwiches had ham and cheese and the other one was egg.

We also had snacks the snacks were cookies, fruit, or a muesli bar. as soon as we finished our morning tea we had free time on our skis for about and hour, we skied down the big hills and went on the chairlifts and did all sorts of stuff we had a lot of fun. The only annoying thing was was the weather the ice kept on hitting everyone's faces and it hurt a lot so when I was skiing down the hill and the kept on hitting my face I had to cover my face and leave a little gap to see where I was going, but after some time the ice started going into the gap. So I covered my face and every three second I would make a gap and see where I was going but one time when I covered my whole face I crashed into Tyson on the ground. One hour later we had lunch again then we put our skis at the storage part of the bus and went in to go back to the crossing.

When we arrived we had to to put our boots away and put our ski pants and ski jacket, and ski gloves into the drying room and the track pants we had to hang in our rooms. Then we had to go to the dining room and wait for the rest to come so we could have our dinner. When everyone came we had dinner, I'm sorry but I forgot what we had for dinner so I'll have to skip that. After dinner we did the same thing we had to brush our teeth and five minutes later we went to sleep.
Sorry I am not writing anymore because I have wrote two much so I will just add photos.
